Short answer: Publisher Akita Shoten confirmed on May 21, 2024 that Keisuke Itagaki's Baki manga franchise has over 100 million copies in circulation, according to Anime News Network. A January 2026 report repeated that cumulative circulation had surpassed 100 million. We found no newer total.
The publisher's franchise total
Anime News Network reported on May 21, 2024 that Akita Shoten said the Baki manga series has over 100 million copies in circulation. The franchise's official YouTube channel released a video marking the milestone the same day.
A Kodama Tales press release in May 2025, which announced the English edition, repeats the figure as over 100 million copies sold worldwide as of May 2024. The publisher's own word is circulation; the press release uses sold. We use circulation.
Parts and volume counts
Anime News Network lists the original Baki the Grappler as 42 volumes (1991 to 1999), a sequel as 31 volumes (1999 to 2005), Hanma Baki as 37 books (2005 to 2012), and the first Baki-Dou as 22 books (2014 to 2018). Later parts continued after that, including Baki Rahen, which began serialization in 2023.
Anime Explained, citing the same report, says the manga has over 63 million copies in print and attaches it to the original Baki the Grappler. ANN's wording attributes it to the 42 volumes of that run. We treat it as the original series figure.
Spin-offs and recent signals
In an August 30, 2026 report, Anime News Network says the isekai spin-off Baki Gaiden: Retsu Kaioh wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikko ni Kamawan has over 2 million copies in circulation, print and digital combined.
Anitrendz, on January 28, 2026, reported the series' 35th anniversary and said cumulative circulation had surpassed 100 million. It does not name who made the report.
How to use these figures
The franchise total is a single 2024 milestone, with two smaller component figures: over 63 million for the original series and over 2 million for the isekai spin-off. These parts are not a full breakdown of the 100 million.
Where public evidence stops: We found no updated franchise total after May 2024, no Oricon annual history, and no per-part breakdown beyond the 63 million original series figure and the 2 million spin-off figure.
